Representatives from seven education organizations
formally launched the Stanislaus County
Education Coalition during a press event on
Thursday, March 4,
at 3:30 p.m. on the
steps of the Stanislaus County Office of Education (1100
H Street – Modesto). The overall goal of
the Coalition is to speak with one voice on issues
affecting public education. Representatives have
been meeting over the past several months to discuss
budget issues and brainstorm ideas that have the
power to support a world-class education system for
students throughout the county and state.
“This is not a demonstration or a protest rally,”
said Stanislaus County Superintendent Tom Changnon.
“We are coming together to support constructive
approaches to ensuring public education is a
priority and that it receives consistent and
adequate funding.”
The coalition believes:
|
High quality
public schools must be the foundation on
which we rebuild California |
|
Restructuring
the state funding system is key to
rebuilding California. |
|
Adequately
funding public education must become a
critical priority in California. |
